Zambia Boreholes

Boreholes can break down for a number of reasons and fixing or ‘rehabilitating’ them is a very cost effective way to provide cleanwater. We’ve just completed a successful project in Luampa in Western Province in Zambia rehabilitating 14 boreholes which provided clean water to more than 4300 people in 12 communities, one school with 1021 pupils and a market with many visitors. We also provided training to improve hygiene and sanitation as well as training for pump menders to keep the boreholes working. Our local project manager, Kennedy Mulele, says ‘ This is a very significant enhancement to a good learning environment for pupils thereby bringing an enlightened community’.
