In September 2022 three trustees made their first visit to Zambia in four years to monitor completed projects, meet old and new colleagues and to scope further projects. The visit was a great success.
It was the first opportunity to meet in person with the newly appointed project manager, Clavel Mulenga, an environmental health professional with a real passion for the work, and also with the executive board of the Zambia Institute of Environmental Health (ZIEH) who oversee the projects in partnership with WfK Trustees.
Trustees visited previously completed water projects at schools, clinics and in communities in several different regions, meeting with the Environmental Health Technicians, water co-ordinators and officials from local Councils and with local traditional leaders.
Since trustees were last there early years education has been made free for all which is a wonderful advance but has resulted in real challenges for water and sanitation at schools. Three new Water for Kids projects have been identified and work will start almost immediately on two of them.
It was a real privilege to be back.
