A huge thank you to The Randal Charitable Foundation for donating £19,300 to fund the The Nakavumbi Community Holistic Safe Water Project. Nakavumbi is located in rural Iganga District, Uganda. It has a population of 1007 people and a school of 500 pupils. This community is vulnerable to diseases; without access to safe water and sanitation villagers are forced to collect water from large dirty ponds shared with livestock and open to contamination, leading to waterborne diseases. The Randal Charitable Foundation’s funding will enable us to install a borehole from which water will be pumped by hand pumps and accessed at standpipes, deliver a sanitation programme, provide community hygiene training, water tanks at each school, latrines at schools, install a teenage girls washrooms and provide a school hand washing training clubs.
