I’m Eilidh, one of the newest Trustees of Water for Kids. Growing up in suburban Glasgow, I aspired to become a doctor, which was fuelled by my early experiences of caring for my late father, who suffered from severe mental illness and later working as a community carer. These experiences deepened my understanding of the critical importance of health, steering me towards a career dedicated to improving health and access to healthcare worldwide. While I didn’t become the doctor I once envisioned, I found my calling as a Philanthropy Manager, where I can leverage my strengths to make a global impact.
Currently, I work at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, supporting academics to secure funding for groundbreaking research that addresses the most pressing global health challenges. My fundraising career began at Amref Health Africa, an African-led health NGO, where I visited our innovative water projects in rural Kajiado County, Kenya and saw firsthand the transformative impact of community-led initiatives improving community health and livelihoods, by providing access to clean water and effective sanitation. Clean water is the foundation of good health, enabling communities to thrive by reducing disease, improving education, and fostering economic development.
I was particularly drawn to Water for Kids because of its holistic approach to sustainable development. By prioritising community involvement right from the start and working with local partners and environmental health professionals, we can ensure our projects provide long-term access to clean water for communities. I am excited to use my skills and fundraising expertise to further the impactful work of Water for Kids.
