Following on from the successful project to provide water to the Ndhiwa Nursery for handwashing and toilet flushing, the second phase, involving construction of a septic tank, was successfully completed during 2010.
Photos show initial excavations and ground conditions, and septic tank under construction. It is a little difficult to show photos of the completed installation as it is now all underground!
We were also pleased to learn that the installation of the new rainwater tanks meant that the nursery had water all through the drought which affected large parts of Kenya last year. In addition, a handwashing education programme has been introduced to teach good hygiene practices to the children.
